No visitors today! Oops, yes we
did have a visitor. Mary came over to ask for a step ladder. She had a limb
fall on her camper during the night and wanted help getting it off. Mary may be
4 feet tall at the most. Even with the aid of a step ladder, she couldn’t reach
the limb that lay resting on her camper’s roof. David helped her get it off.
We drove to Citico Creek which is
just a short distance from where we are staying. We stopped at a spot in the
creek where there was a hand held rope swing hanging over the water. Grace and
Madi hung onto the rope while swinging by it and then dropped into the creek.
The water was ice cold, but it felt great.
More swimming in the lake and
fishing from the peer. There were 4 boys on the peer who were very
talkative…and creative. They spotted some fishing line hanging in a tree
near-by. They managed to pull enough of the fishing line from the tree to begin
making their own poles. Each boy had about 5 feet of fishing line. They spotted
our tackle box and asked to borrow some hooks. I handed out 1 hook to each boy.
Another couple that had been fishing from the peer was getting ready to leave.
They were fishing with worms and offered the worms from their hooks to the
boys. They ended up splitting pieces of the worms amongst themselves and soon began
fishing by throwing in their line. After much debate about who got the bigger
worm piece, they were quickly distracted by a fish that one of the boys began
pulling onto the peer. It was a brim. They were so excited. One of the boys
wanted to cook it and eat it. The brim was about 5 inches long. They left to
show their parents the fish they had caught, and returned after a few minutes
and returned the fish to its original habitat. We left soon after the boys
returned with the fish, and while on our way out we heard one of the boys
shout, “He caught another one.” I’m not sure how many they ended up catching,
but I’m sure they were leaving with lots of good memories.
