The
day is ending much quieter that it started. Grace has gone to Lake Winnie with
Austin and Cole, and Isabell is playing in the garage with her Mom, oh…her
friend tonight. Her name is friend.
At
7:15 AM the sound of a loud diesel engine rattled the windows of the house as it
pulled up the driveway. Little David arrived in his Semi-Truck to take Grace
and Maddie to swim practice (at Grace’s request the previous night). He left
around 8:15 and I followed behind planning to take the final shirt orders from
swim team parents.
When
I returned home, the cold rain on the first day of June had chilled my bones
and all I could think about was a nice pair of warm sweat pants and a
comfortable sweater. Cole and Dakota had spent the night before and were in the
house on the laptop. Melissa and Austin came over as she was on her way to the
car emissions checking station. Austin wanted to stay and play with Dakota.
David
arrived around noon with Brandon (a guy who works with David). Isabell, Dakota,
Maddie, Grace, and Cole were in the garage singing “I’m sexy and I know it”
using the end of a paint pole as a microphone. David told Brandon to wait here
while he and I went to the bank. We were gone about 5 minutes. I’m sure Brandon
appreciated that.
Kay
(Austin and Cole’s other grandmother) arrived to discuss the incidents of
yesterday’s happenings. She stayed for a while visiting on the back porch. Her
hands trembled showing her age as she retrieved her keys prior to leaving.
Arnold
came around 5:00 to visit, talking about the visitors at his house. He said he
needed to get away. Imagine that!
Melissa
arrived with Jeff around 5:00 after deciding to go to Lake Winnie (a local
amusement park). Grace should return around 10:00 tonight.
Candy
(Maddie’s Mom) arrived to pick up her daughter around 5:15 along with Christy
who picked up Dakota about the same time.
Lots
of traffic, so many visitors I am almost losing track of the numbers in and out
of the house.
11
visitors today, 74 in all.
