Well there’s one thing I can say about this place; there are a lot of baby birds that have been hatched around here. This summer we have had Bluebirds, Purple Finches, House Wrens, Cardinals, and Blue Jays. There is currently a second brood of birds in our Bluebird house, Purple Finches in the hanging basket on our front porch, and House Wrens in a planter in the front yard. I have been very careful watering the flowers each day to avoid disturbing the baby birds. Today, I decided to remove the hanging basket from its hook and show Isabell the growing baby birds. She thought they were so cute… and they are. I let her have a quick look then returned them to the hook where they were previously hanging on my front porch. While hanging up the basket, the hook broke. The flowers fell to the ground and the baby birds that were resting comfortably in their nest, fell to the ground as well. I felt terrible. Mandy and I quickly scooped up the flower and the birds, and put them back in their nest. I went inside and watched the nest to see if the mother would return. She did. Thank goodness. Hopefully they will be big enough to leave the nest soon.
Arnold was the first visitor of the day. He arrived around 7:30 as he usually does on Saturday mornings. Arnold and David go to Georgia every Saturday to get a carton of cigarettes at a discounted price. David usually plays the poker machines while he is there, so he is not really saving any money. He doesn’t know that I know about his gambling. It’s like a little secret that David thinks I know nothing about so I don’t say anything about it.
Little David, Maddie, and Dakota arrived and swam in the pool to get some relief from the heat. 107 degrees today in Chattanooga. Another record. He brought a watermelon. We will eat it tomorrow.
Kay stopped by and talked to Mandy about having Austin and Cole come over. She wanted to take them to the Aquarium and said that she would go by Melissa’s house to see if they wanted to go. She left after talking to Mandy for about 10 minutes.
Grace arrived with Madi, her Mom (Bethany), and her fiance’ (Fernando). They visited for a while and talked about getting a Lab when they marry. They are a sweet couple.
Another busy day…8 visitors today, 316 in all
