Today, we went to Chester Frost Park to swim in the lake. Harlee went with us too. The temperature was 90 degrees and there was a light breeze. It was nice. Soon after the kids were swimming, Austin yelled, "Look, I caught a fish!" He had caught a brim with his bare hands. We couldn't believe it. He was so proud of himself. After everyone saw his accomplishment, he tossed the fish back into the water.

It wasn't long before another kid caught a fish... a much bigger fish. It looked like a small mouth bass. He was holding it with both hands and the fish was flapping eagerly trying to get away. Wow! That was crazy.

Well...not too long after that, Grace caught a fish with her hands as well. After that, I began to wonder about the quality of the water that we had been cooling off in. We all began to talk about flesh eating bacteria, staff infections, and E coli. Just a few minutes earlier, we were jumping around in the water laughing, flipping each other off floats, and diving under the water to find shells. Suddenly, our faces were full of question. Surely there was no pollution or bacteria that could be killing the fish, or making them swim slow. Maybe the water temperature was too warm. We all agreed this was the probable cause behind all the slow moving fish. This seemed to justify it and we all felt better.

We ate sandwiches, fruit, pudding, and chips. It was a nice afternoon.

Melissa, Jeff, Austin, Cole, and Ben came over after we left the lake. After swim practice this evening, Madi came home with Grace and will be spending the night. Cole wanted to spend the night too. 2 guests in the house tonight.
